Get ready for fun, fashion and fabulous polo when the Airnorth Cable Beach Polo returns to the pristine sands of Broome in 2019.

The exotic far north west corner of Australia will come alive again 17 to 19 May next year with a three-day carnival of ponies, parties and Perrier-Jouët champagne.

Heralding the 10th year since beach polo was introduced to Australia as the Paspaley Beach Polo on Cable Beach in Broome May 2010, the event continues to excite and thrill the thousands of guests who come from far and wide to be part of the nation’s most glamorous beach polo event to this day.

The Airnorth Cable Beach Polo carnival opens with a welcome party on Friday night, qualifier matches Saturday, a glamorous Dinner Under The Stars on the sands of Cable Beach Saturday night, culminating with the Australasian Beach Polo Championship finals on Sunday.

With the glittering azure waters of the Indian ocean forming the perfect backdrop, this tournament is arguably the best of its kind in the world due to the firm Cable Beach sand and super wide pitch formed by the giant Kimberley tides, attracting players from around the world.

“Around 70% of the 1,350 paying spectators we receive at the Cable Beach Polo each year come from Perth or interstate which makes this event a considerable economic contributor to the local economy, estimated at $2.8m in value,” said event producer Marilynne Paspaley.

“The Cable Beach Polo also achieves immeasurable marketing value for the destination well into the millions of dollars, this year alone being featured in an episode of internationally distributed television series ‘Born to Cook – Jack Stein Down Under’, and very recently featured in the Australian Financial Review magazine attracting many expressions of interest from potential spectators in 2019.”

Additional to the considerable benefits that the Cable Beach Polo delivers to the local economy, it’s also a huge supporter for the RFDS with a legacy of raising $33,345 for the cause this year alone.

“Everyone will be pleased to hear that the now infamous Hobby Horse Dash will return to crown the next ‘Prancing Pony’ and ‘Stampeding Stallion’ at the polo next year, alongside the Blue Ball Blast to win a money-can’t-buy overseas experience while raising money for a very important cause,” Marilynne said.

Early Bird premium ticket packages are now available to the VIP Marquee for both the qualifying matches on Saturday 18 May, and finals on Sunday 19 May.

The heart of all the action, the VIP Marquee provides an unequalled view of the matches with gourmet cuisine served throughout the day, accompanied by Perrier-Jouët champagne, award winning Bunnamagoo Estate wines, premium beers and non-alcoholic beverages.
